I am an editorial and commercial photographer based in North Yarmouth, Maine. My work—for a variety of national and local publications and businesses—is a reflection of my photojournalism background combined with artistic insight. My focus on food and farm photography has grown out of my interest in where our food comes from and its social, economic, and environmental impact.

I grew up in northwestern Connecticut and graduated from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, with a B.A. in English. I began my professional photography career as a photo editor and staff photographer for a weekly newspaper in Washington, D.C. Longing for a life closer to the natural beauty and outdoor activities that help sustain me, I returned to Maine in 2003.

I have done the photography for thirteen gardening and cookbooks, including The Garden Maker's Book of Wonder (Storey Publishing), Grow Your Own Herbal Remedies (Storey Publishing), Eat Cool (Rizzoli), Real Maine Food (Rizzoli), The Best Comfort Food on the Planet (Page Street), and Desserted: Recipes and Tales from an Island Chocolatier (Down East). Stockfood, Cavan Images, and Offset represent my stock images.

When not behind the camera, I might be found—depending on the season—walking in the woods with our adorable lab mix, Peanut; road biking or nordic skiing with friends; exploring islands by kayak; foraging for mushrooms with my husband; experimenting with sourdough baking; or putting my Master Gardener Volunteer certification to use helping with various community garden projects and working on turning our two acres into an edible and native plant paradise.
